“Deep Dive into Entrepreneurial Society”- An event for early stage Entrepreneurs

Post-2010 Bangladeshi startup ecosphere enjoyed a robust spell with approximately more than 1000 new ventures operating and expected to soar multifold with the digitalized ecosystem.

However, per Startup Genome, 9 out of 10 startups are prone to failure & 2 out of 10 new businesses fail in the first year of operations. These unreal numbers speak volumes literally. All these are the by-product of proper product-market fit lacking, marketing & team problems, and finance problems mostly. An eccentric yet interesting part is that all these are preventable.

This right here is where Startup Chattogram comes into play. With facilitating more than 50 startups, organizing 30 plus events, and a pool of 20 odd investors, Startup Chattogram serves us right as the catalyst our ecosystem so desperately craving.

In these unfortunate times of a dreadful pandemic, we have witnessed the mushroom growth of online business and newly launched startups going online. However, all these new ventures require proper guidance, accurate insights, exact market information, etc. to play with.

Rightly so, bearing all these concerns in mind, Startup Chattogram in collaboration with YY Ventures and Impact Hub Dhaka came up with a two-day-long instructive webinar named “Deep Dive into Entrepreneurial Society” focusing on fabricating a strong ecosystem of entrepreneurs in Chattogram on 16th and 17th September.

On the first season of first day of the webinar seasoned industry experts from Startup Chattogram, Impact Hub Dhaka and YY Ventures’ network shared their insights on Startup Ecosystem and starting a Startup to diverse and enthusiastic participants joined the journey to grasp in-depth knowledge and opportunities about the Startup Ecosystem and Social Entrepreneurship. In the very last session, successful local entrepreneurs shared their incredible entrepreneurial journey and talked about how they overcame their challenges.

Day 2 focused on design thinking and an investor mindset. It was an absolute pleasure to hear from such great minds. We were left exhilarated and motivated.

Some key take-ways from the webinar:

  • Entrepreneurs are the head of accounts. So sound projection matters. Financing planning impacts product quality, customer relationships.
  • Commitment, ethics, communication, team, market traction, plan, potential, advisors are key things to consider before investing.
  • Design thinking encapsulates having empathy, defining a core issue, ideation, drafting a prototype, and testing. It is a viable way forward of solutions and constant innovation.

The robust panel consisted of Startup Chttogram CEO Arafatul Islam Akib, YY Ventures’ CEO Tazin Shadid, Tanzeem YY Ventures’ program lead Tanzeem Noor, Impact Hub’s community lead Lamia Hafeez, Co-founder & CEO of Lightcastle Partners’ Bijon Islam, Bangladesh Angels CEO Nirjhor Rahman, Hameed Hasan Alvee of Khamar-e Ltd., Chairman of Emedi Pharma Jabedul Islam, founder of Rodela’s Kitchen Rodela Hasan, Jotokaj founder Abu Hasnat, Unifox Digital Media’s CEO Shourav Islam among many others.

The Chattogram Ecosystem is truly promising and the future is not so bleak after all.

To anyone in the crossroad of life, contemplating whether to embark on a startup journey or a 5-to-9 job, this webinar might be what one needed to jump ahead, broaden the horizon of business intellect we believe. For sure, it was nice while it lasted.

Here’s to many more. Fingers crossed!
